Nurse Birth Assistants

Mallory Jones, BSN, RN, RNC-MNN

“I have had a love for babies ever since I was a little girl. When I was in second grade, I asked my mom what job I could have that I could work with babies all day long and she told me I could be a Nurse. So that is the career I set out to pursue. I went to Nursing school at Angelo State University and graduated with my Associates Degree in Nursing in May of 2012. I then went on to finish my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and graduated in December of 2013. In August of 2012, I was hired for my first and current job at a local medical facility on the Mother-Baby floor. I absolutely love working with these moms and babies: helping these new or experienced parents care for their newborn baby, teaching them the ins and outs of parenting a newborn, instructing mothers on their postpartum care, and assisting with breastfeeding.

“After working on my unit for a few years, my interest in the natural process of childbirth heightened. It is still so amazing to me how God made the body work to birth babies naturally and this has made me become more and more interested in being a part of this miracle. Someday I would love to go back to school to become a Certified Nurse Midwife.

“I married my wonderful husband, Terence in May of 2015 and in December of 2016 we welcomed our daughter Aliyah in this world. Then in May of 2020, we had our son Zechariah. We plan on having at least 2 more children, or however many more children God decides to bless our family with.  I very much look forward to working with Alex in assisting the mothers of Abilene welcome their wonderful bundles of joy in this world.”

Leslie Bridges, BSN, RNC-MNN

“I have been married for the last 17 years and have five wonderful children.  I am so excited to help mothers in the Abilene area achieve the labor and delivery they desire by supporting Alex with the natural birthing process. We are a military family and have lived in many different parts of the country and overseas. However, Texas is our home, and we are thrilled to be creating ties in the Big Country.

“After having the pleasure of spending many years at home with my family as a stay-at-home mother, I experienced the impact that the midwifery model of care can provide by giving birth to my fourth child at home. This prompted me to have aspirationsof becoming a midwife myself. Since we are a military family and have historically moved around, I researched what midwifery credentials were nationally recognized.

“In 2015, I started the journey of going back to school to become a nurse. I graduated in May of 2018 with my Associates of Science in Nursing from Central Carolina Community College, and quickly followed that with my Bachelors of Science In Nursing in December of 2019 from East Carolina University. My years of nursing experience have all been in Women's and Children's, and I achieved my certification In Maternal Newborn Nursing in July of 2021. I am not certain what my future holds, but I know that supporting and empowering women in their birthing experience is my passion!”

Erin Newman, RN, BSN

“I became a nurse in 2005 and my first job was on a mother/baby unit of a large hospital.  This was not my first choice as a new nurse but it was my first offer and I took it.  I wouldn’t have ever imagined myself as a nurse on that particular floor but the Lord had a different plan in place for my life.   I stayed within the mother/baby/NICU field for most of my career, trying other things here and there, but always finding myself back where my heart loves the most…mamas and their babies!

“When I met Alex several years ago, I had never really dabbled with midwifery as I’d always worked in a facility that didn’t use midwives. But I know that the Lord placed her in my life for a reason!  I love her purpose, I love parents having a choice in their birthing experience and I love that I get to be a part of people receiving their gift from God.

“My husband and I have been married for 10 amazing years.  We have four beautiful children Riana, Delaney, Nash and Carys and a new son-in love, Korbin who joined our family in October 2023.  We love the outdoors and spending time at the lake any chance we get. I am so excited to be part of this team and assist Alex with new and experienced parents as they welcome their bundle of joy.”
